Safety & Security
To help you rest and relax during your stay, BryanLGH has established comprehensive safety and security practices. If you have any questions regarding the following topics, please let us know.
Smoking:
To protect patients and visitors, smoking no longer is allowed anywhere inside or outside the medical center buildings. This policy went into effect January 2008.
Latex-Safe Environment:
For the safety of our patients, visitors and staff, the medical center is latex safe. This means we have removed all items containing latex powder, and we cannot allow latex rubber balloons in any medical center building. However, Mylar balloons are acceptable. If latex balloons are brought into one of our facilities, we will ask the visitor to return the balloons to their vehicle.
Latex allergic reactions can range from moderate irritation and discomfort to life-threatening conditions. Being latex-safe helps prevent allergic reactions and the development of the allergy over time.
Valuables:
Please leave valuables including jewelry, larger amounts of cash and credit cards at home. The medical center cannot be responsible for the loss of money or other valuables left in patient rooms. If you do bring valuables, please request that they be stored in a safety deposit box when you are admitted.
Lost Items:
To inquire about or report a lost item at BryanLGH West, call plant operations at 402-481-5907 between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or security at 402-481-5802. At BryanLGH East, please call plant operations at 402-481-8971 between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Security:
Security guards are on duty 24 hours a day to assist patients, visitors and staff. To contact security, dial “0” from within the hospital, or call BryanLGH West at 402-481-5802.
Fire Safety:
Monthly fire drills help keep staff prepared for emergencies. During the drills, you will hear a bell ringing, and nurses will close doors to patient rooms. No one is allowed to pass through any doorway during a fire drill or fire.
Elevators should not be used nor should you pass through a fire doorway during a fire alarm until an "all-clear" announcement has been made.
To ensure fire safety, our plant operations department should inspect all personal electric equipment that is brought to the medical center before it is used. Your nurse can coordinate this inspection.
