BryanLGH Clinical Nutrition Manager Hakel-Smith Attends ADA Leadership Institute
Nancy Hakel-Smith, PhD, RD, was selected to attend the American Dietetic Association’s fifth Leadership Institute, June 19-22 in Hendersen, Nevada. Participation in the Institute, an intensive certificate training program in theory and practice of leadership, is designed to enhance the leadership skills of ADA members.
Hakel-Smith is Manager of Clinical Nutrition Services at BryanLGH Medical Center and is the ADA Chair of the Clinical Nutrition Management (CNM) practice group, which has more than 2,000 members nationwide.
Members of the CNM practice group are managers of clinical nutrition programs in acute, sub-acute and long-term care, outpatient settings and home health. As leaders in health care systems, they are responsible for developing and implementing nutrition programs that keep pace with the changing health care environment.
Hakel-Smith has conducted and published original research and presented nationally and internationally on nutrition care. She received the 2006 First Author Published Paper Award from the Association’s Research Dietetic Practice Group.
